How to Choose the Right Detailing Products for Your Car
What's the deal with car detailing products?
You go to the store, and there are like 3,000 different types of wax. Are we detailing a car or auditioning for The Wax Museum?
So you think, alright, maybe the salesperson can help me choose. But then they start throwing around words like "polymer sealants" and "carnauba." Carnauba? Sounds more like an exotic location in the Caribbean than something I should put on my car.
And let's talk about these "microfiber cloths." They make it sound so advanced, like it's some sort of nanotechnology from NASA. "This cloth has over a million fibers per square inch." Oh, really? Because it looks like a fancy dish towel to me. And I don't need an electron microscope to wipe off the wax.
Now, let's not forget the interior. Suddenly, you're in a whole new world of confusion. We've got protectants and restorers, leather conditioners, vinyl cleaners. I mean, you need a degree in chemistry just to navigate the dashboard wipes aisle.
And the air fresheners... don't even get me started. Pine, cherry, new car scent... new car scent? If my car smelled like that when it was new, I would've asked for my money back. And why do we want our cars to smell like forests and fruits anyway? When I’m in a car, I want it to smell like a car. If I want to smell a pine tree, I’ll go hiking.
And the worst part? After you spend your day off with a bucket and sponge, battling the dust and grime, some bird will inevitably decide that your shiny car is the perfect target. So what's the deal with that?
Maybe what we really need is a car detailing product that repels birds. Now, that's an idea I can get behind.
